Oracle WebCenter Sites Customer Portal

Customer: Cars.com

Industry: Online Automotive Sales

Business Pain: Cars.com is an automotive sales website that was founded in 1998. The website is viewed by over 12 million customers every month. Cars.com needed to consolidate four separate sites used by dealers, salespersons, and employees.

How we fixed it : TekStream developed a multi-phase project to consolidate and replace existing sites used by dealers, salespersons, and employees. The new Customer Portal includes:

  • cars.com – Public-facing portal focused on sales and marketing to dealers
  • MyDealerCenter – Authenticated dealer site for managing account, inventory, reviews, and reporting
  • cars.com – Sales and marketing materials for sales staff
  • cars.com – Blog site targeting dealers

The key driver of the first phase of the project was enhanced dealer reporting. New pages in WebCenter Sites (WCS) were created, matching the UI of the existing MyDealerCenter (MDC). Single sign-on (SSO) between MVP and MDC provides a seamless interface for users. Primary functionality in WCS is surfacing of Tableau-generated interactive reports.

The second phase of the Customer Portal focuses on moving content from other sites to WCS. The third phase involves moving tools from other sites to WCS, and to sunset CarsLink, DealerADvantage, and MDC.
